ATHNadvoy applies very high standards of computer and Internet security, such as password-protected access, encryption, secure firewalls and constant monitoring to protect the confidentiality of your data. Our network of security is designed to protect patient data against unauthorised access.

Registration

I am a patient. How do I register for ATHNadvoy?

Currently, if you wish to register for ATHNadvoy, your Treatment Center or the individual healthcare professional responsible for your care must also be registered. Please contact your Treatment Center or your healthcare professional to find out if they are members of the ATHNadvoy community.

I am a healthcare provider. How do I register for ATHNadvoy?

If you wish to register yourself or your Treatment Center for ATHNadvoy, please contact ATHNadvoy at athnadvoy@athn.org for more information.

Why was my registration unsuccessful?

Patient: Make certain that your Treatment Center or healthcare professional is a registered user of ATHNadvoy. Also, be sure that your healthcare professional has pre-registered* you into the system.

Healthcare Professional: Make sure that you have been pre-registered* into the system by the Treatment Center Website Administrator.

All Users: If you have been pre-registered*, check to make sure you are entering your Personal Identification Number (PIN) correctly into the system. You must then accept the Terms and Conditions of the website, and enter in ALL REQUIRED fields on the registration profile page. If you are still having trouble registering, please contact or e-mail your Treatment Center Website Administrator.

*Pre-registration: The Treatment Center Website Administrator will give you a Personal Identification Number (PIN) generated by the ATHNadvoy system. It is necessary to key in this PIN when attempting to register on ATHNadvoy. For further detail, please see the Registration Tutorial.

Sign In

Why am I unable to sign in?

You must complete the registration procedure in order to sign in. You must also type in your username and password exactly as they appear in your profile, as they are case-sensitive.

I forgot my password. What do I do?

If you have forgotten your password, please contact your Treatment Center Website Administrator for assistance.

Why is my account locked?

Your account will be locked in the event that the incorrect password is entered five times for your username. Please contact your Treatment Center Website Administrator to have your account unlocked.

Medical Emergencies

I am a patient. What do I do if I am having a medical emergency? Can ATHNadvoy help me?

Remember, ATHNadvoy is not an emergency notification tool. Contact your designated emergency number immediately, should a serious or life-threatening event occur.

I am a healthcare professional. What is the role of ATHNadvoy in the event that my patient experiences a medical emergency?

ATHNadvoy is not an emergency notification tool. Always emphasise to your patients that ATHNadvoy will assist in healthcare professional/patient communications, but is not a replacement in genuine emergency situations. It is important that you stress to all your patients that they should call their designated emergency number immediately, should a serious or life-threatening event occur. The patient should seek treatment before attempting to record information on ATHNadvoy.

Supported Browsers

ATHNadvoy functions optimally on Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher, with 128-bit encryption, cookies and JavaScript enabled. In order to use ATHNadvoy, you will need to use a browser that supports all of these tools.

Why does ATHNadvoy require 128-bit encryption?

Encryption is a method of scrambling messages that travel over the Internet so that others cannot read them. At ATHNadvoy, we believe that the secure transfer of sensitive healthcare data is extremely important. That is why we require the highest level of Internet data transmission security available - 128-bit encryption.

In order to use ATHNadvoy, you will need to upgrade your browser to one that supports 128-bit encryption. We recommend the following 128-bit browser:

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher

To download a 128-bit browser, please follow the instructions below.

Microsoft Internet Explorer:

  1. Go to: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.htm
  2. Follow the download instructions.
  3. Install the new browser and return to ATHNadvoy.
Why does ATHNadvoy use cookies?

As many websites do, we use "cookies" to personalize our site for you and to collect information about site usage and the connection of our systems to yours. A cookie is a text file that our web site transfers to your computers hard drive for record keeping purposes. The cookie assigns a random unique number to your computer.ATHNadvoy only uses these cookies to keep your connection stable in the event of Internet or server problems and to check that your system works well with our site. Some cookies are temporary and are removed by your browser when you finish an ATHNadvoy session. Others remain on your hard drive. You can erase the cookies that remain on your hard drive. We use cookies and the IP Header to collect data such as your type of web browser, the operating system you use, and the date and time of your visit. This information helps ATHNadvoy to solve technical problems and to improve the Site's functions.

To enable Cookies, please follow the instructions below for your particular browser. If you are not sure which browser you are using, simply click the "Help" menu and then select "About."

2. Click on "Security" tab.
3. Within the Internet content zone (the default), choose "Custom Level" to bring up the Security Settings dialogue box.
4. Scroll down to the Cookies section and enable "Allow per-session cookies (not stored)".
5. Click "OK" to save the settings.
6. Restart the browser and return to ATHNadvoy.

Why does ATHNadvoy require JavaScript?

JavaScript is a programming language that we use to control HTML page elements (links, images, forms, etc.), perform calculations, and handle interactive events, such as submitting treatment logs. As with many other websites, ATHNadvoy requires that you enable JavaScript in your browser in order to use the site.

To enable JavaScript, please follow the instructions below for your particular browser.

In Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.x:

  1. Click the Tools menu and select Internet Options.
  2. Click on "Security" tab.
  3. Within the Internet content zone (the default), choose "Custom Level" to bring up the Security Settings dialogue box.
  4. Scroll down to the Scripting section and enable "Active Scripting".
  5. Click "OK" to save the settings.
  6. Restart the browser and return to ATHNadvoy.
Are you using America Online?

Unfortunately, the browser that comes with AOL does not work with ATHNadvoy.

In order to use ATHNadvoy with AOL, you will need to:

  1. Log on to your AOL account.
  2. Once you are connected, minimise the AOL application.
  3. Separately open a supported browser.
